RENAIO acquires two hydropower plants in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region

The open-ended infrastructure fund in the hydropower sector RENAIO Infrastructure Fund S.C.A., SICAV-RAIF has included the two hydropower plants “Ospedaletto” and “Zompitta” in the Udine/Friuli Venezia Giulia region (Italy) in its portfolio since August 19, 2019.

The two power plants have an installed capacity of 1,060 KW and produce around 4 million kWh of clean electricity per year. This supplies around 1,300 households with CO2-free electricity for a year.

The transaction, with an investment volume of EUR 5.65 million, was completed in just three months. The two power plants were completed and connected to the grid at the end of 2017. They have fixed feed-in tariffs of 21 cents/kWh until 2037.

The “Zompitta” power plant is equipped with a Kaplan Dive 1600 turbine from Zeco, which is perfectly adapted to the local conditions. The “Ospedaletto” power plant uses a newly developed Kaplan VLH turbine, which was specially designed for the conditions found on the Tagliamento river.

Preparations for the purchase of a third power plant in Piedmont are also underway. A positive conclusion is expected in the coming weeks.
